Autumn escape into a book.

The leaves have begun to turn and the last of the summer has ignited natures fireworks. In Scotland it can be a beautiful time of the year. Here's a wee painting I did a few years ago.

I love this week Halloween and Bonfire night. There's something about these nights of hidden faces and fire I find enchanting. The night suddenly seems to turn colder after this week, and then I find myself wanting to prepare for hibernating by grabbing a good book and if it's free all the better.

Writing updates

I have been busy writing the second book of the D-Notice series, provisionally called Disclosure. Cassie and Bella have been developing their powers, and the humans are about to discover everything.

And if you've been following me on Bluesky you'll have also seen the writing update posts following the elf-napping drama.

But I have been drastically behind in my writing, and it wasn't flowing as well as it usually does. I've tried not to stress about it, and spend more time in nature.

It has really helped as I am back to writing between 500 -1000 words each time I focus.

Hopefully as the nights draw in I'll be able to focus more.

Publishing milestones

I ran a few promotions on both of my novels and so far 5081 copies have been ordered. Which considering my first novel was only published 4 months ago I am absolutely over the moon.

So far the reviews for both have been incredibly positive. I'm truly astonished that they have been received so favourably. They are being compared to the great Douglas Adams and Sir Terry Pratchett. Hopefully more reviews will come in soon.

The overarching thing people keep saying is that they have never read anything like them, they are unique and a fun read.

I'll keep you updated next month on my next milestone as I launch Discovery the first D-Notice book wide. It will be available on every outlet I can think of if there are any you would prefer to get it from, please email me and I'll make sure it's available.

I'm going to continue writing the second novel in the D-Notice series as I grab something pumpkin spiced, settle into my comfy chair and escape into the world of the Cassie, the gods, and chasing elves in Iceland.
